Introducing new flower workshops with Farm.Field.Sea., starting July 27.Morning Glory Farm Flowers by Alison L. Mead

The rainy days of May and June may have delayed our harvests for a bit, but flowers here at the farm are showing the glorious results.

We grow hundreds of flower varieties in the fields outside the farmstand, and they’re bigger and better than ever this year. “We are seeing remarkable stem length on many varieties of flowers that we always considered to be just short crops,” says our flower expert, Simon’s wife Robyn Hosey Athearn.

This Thursday, Robyn is teaming up with the Farm.Field.Sea experiential-event company to host the first Bloomin’ Fantastic Flower Workshop at the farm July 27. A second workshop takes place August 8.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the three-hour adventure takes guests on an exclusive tour of the flower fields, to explore and harvest blossoms for the class. Back at the farmstand, taking inspiration from the fields and pastures, Robyn will guide guests on how to style their own arrangements, from organic to whimsical, as they nibble on farm-fresh snacks.

Children are welcome: The workshop, like the farm, is family friendly. “We always have kids circling around the flower tent at the farm, asking questions, trying to catch butterflies,” says Robyn. “Our policy is to let each kid pick out their favorite flower, from the 50 or so buckets we have at the tent at any given time, and take it home with them.”
