The Fischer family of Flat Point Farm in West Tisbury have suffered one of the greatest disasters that can befall a farm. A catastrophic fire Tuesday morning destroyed their barn and killed more than 80 of their animals, including lambs, sheep and beef cattle.

An online fundraiser to rebuild the barn has raised more than $81,000 as of this morning. The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival has taken up a collection for the farm. A potluck Ag Hall fundraiser is being planned for April 6.

The Haybarn Hoedown starts at 5:30 p.m. that Saturday night. According to the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society, which posted the event on Facebook:

“Please join us for an evening of food and fun to raise money for the Fischer family and Flat Point Farm who suffered a devastating fire early Tuesday morning.
